    Keyboard update!...It's really, really bad. It only worked on one of the two PCs I tried it with, and feels absolutely hideous to type on. Lol, It's like typing on bubble-wrap whilst wearing disposable plastic gloves. And the purple is a girlie shade, and it does not feel hard wearing at all. Avoid these keyboards. =(

    Nice to see people talking about refresh rate. I know several guys, primarily Apple guys go figure, who truly believe refresh rate doesn't matter because their computer is reaching 300, 400FPS in all their games. Explaining that refresh rate is limiting the viewable FPS is like talking to a brick wall.

    Great stuff TOm. I think for the PSU I'd probably have bought something modern on eBay or Marketplace like a CX750, stripped it down and sprayed the back silver to match the case, and cut the sleeving off the cables. Safer and a lot more power efficient, especially running a big GPU. The FSP stuff is good though. Love the fact you're putting a floppy drive in the system, I miss the sound of a floppy seeking during post. Old PC noises were great, people don't know what they're missing these days.

    • @ItsMyNaturalColour
      @ItsMyNaturalColour 6 дней назад

      Thank you, Ashley! I'm really hoping that with the floppy drive connected, a PC speaker and the 80mm fans, I should get quite an old school sounding system. It won't be perfect but a lot closer than a typical PC of today.

    I have a '06 MPC 1,1 that I bought probably 10 or 12 years ago, and recently dug it back out of storage. It also has the Radeon HD 5770 gpu, 32 gb.of RAM, and dual 2.66 ghz. Xeons. I got a utility to upgrade the firmware to 1,2 and then set it up with Windows 10 Enterprise. (a bit tricky, as you have to use another machine to copy the Windows installer to the drive, and then pop it into the Mac Pro to run it). In the end, it actually runs Win 10 very well, and Windows picked up on the Radeon HD 5770 right away, but would not see the native Mac audio chip. Easy fix is just plug in a cheap USB Dolby 5.1 audio interface, which Windows detects automatically.😉 Ironically, it runs Windows much quicker than it did MacOS Lion back in the day... go figure! Full screen video on RUclips? No problem! The HD 5770 with 2 gb. of VRAM handles it with very little frame drop, despite the slow 667 mhz. bus.😄

    personally i would go the other way have the Seasonic power the graphics card for cleaner power delivery and under load the graphics card might struggle more with the fireball, and a budget motherboard and low watt cpu wont need as much power as that graphics card will.

    its very odd seeing a custom water cooling company having a passively cooled nvme heatsink product.

  • @danthompsett2894
    @danthompsett2894 16 дней назад

    I trust the CPU is a low wattage chip, nice idea to have seperate power going to the graphics card as long as its enough, you may find the stability or performance gets throttled by the lack of power. using old school ketchup and mustard power supplies who cares the case doesnt have a window, thermal paste application again who cares only rule in my book no such thing as too much but too little is bad, although there is a risk of mess with too much.

  • @danthompsett2894

    The hot weather has been rather unbearable if you're in a poorly ventilated room. So humid! Our houses aren't built for this in the UK! My office is south facing and has an end wall in the back yard (it was an end terrace at one point then they built more later) so it just soaks up all the heat from the sun during the day and radiates it into the room, but doesn't get enough time to actually cool properly. It's horrible! I'm seriously considering one of those fancy wall mount AC units. Having the computers on and a bunch of monitors doesn't help either lol.

    • @ItsMyNaturalColour
      @ItsMyNaturalColour 17 дней назад

      Yeah absolutely. It's very uncomfortable at the moment. AC would be a dream but it's just so crazy expensive. I know it would be an absolute pig of an install in my house too. It would be very destructive. Fan is the best I'm going to get I think. If I had a normal window I'd deffo give a portable AC unit a whirl, but with only the skylight miles up in the roof, I don't see any way of venting that AC unit.

    I have the Ax1 version which is 33w per channel . Still enough to almost shake the house down if you have the contemporary sensitive speakers. ( I use Wharfdales ) . More modern speakers are much less sensitive and so you need much more power to get the same sound output . The Ax1 look similar except for the graphic equaliser pots . To be fair I've never missed not having a graphic equaliser section on any of my Hi Fi equipment ! Cheers .

    Insane to see more iMNC content these days, esepcailly these kids of build videos for sure! The only thing I'll say/potentially warn you about Tom...I know you went with these PSUs for their authenticity. But I would put money on it that they will fail at some point on this kind of hardware, and potentially take out hardware at the same time. You wanna check the rails on them as well, as older PSUs from this kinda era actually did a lot of their wattage on the rails that aren't imporant these days. Wouldn't be surprised if they only do 150-200w or so on the 12v rail.

    • @ItsMyNaturalColour
      @ItsMyNaturalColour 17 дней назад

      Thank you!! Great fun doing this stuff. Thanks for the heads up. I actually address that at the end, the Seasonic does something like 310W on the 12V rail and the Fire Bull does 276W. I calculated the draw and we should be all good. The Seasonic isn’t actually that ancient. I remember when I was building the Doom PC in 2016, you could still find silver PSUs as a ‘no frills’ offering from a few of the manufacturers. Potential for failure is definitely high though I completely agree 😂

      @matthew4mckeever 17 дней назад
